This morning, Chad left us to continue his journey through Peru, so it´s just us girlies for now. We woke up in our very strange hostal, which reminded us of the movie Hostel! We´re staying there another night tonight so wish me luck!
I went to bed last night with terrible flu like symptoms, muscle aches and a fever of 37.9 degres! But feel much better today and my fever´s gone down to 36.5.
I havn´t seen much of Loja yet but it is very odd, its not that pretty apart from the main square and the church. There are hardly any internet cafes and the cameras are very expensive here! I wish I got one in Cuenca. I´ll have to wait to get into Peru where I hope it will be cheaper. Later we're going to keep walking around and there is a statue, east of town, which over looks Loja which we will go visit.
I´ve tried to find out more about the tsunami effects in South America and I believe the alerts have been lifted but am not sure if the coast has been opened yet. I hope so as we wanted to go into Peru tomorrow and down the coast.
Off to have lunch somewhere now.. xxx
So Music city has closed down for a while. Probably because of the Japenese!
ReplyDeleteGedt rid of that cold and find a camera sharpish! We need to see some pictures.
No more news about the effect of the tsunami on the South American coast...So go for it but be careful...and try some of that weird but appealing food they serve down there!
Bisous.
hello Papa. I think the coast is open because Helen messaged me on facebook saying she was taking an over night bus to Lima, not sure from where though.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting the bus at 7 in the morning, crossing the boarder and arriving in Piura around 4pm. we've changed our plan slighty. we'll go to chiclayo instead of trujillo which is half way between piura and trujillo. 3hours from piura.
will probably speak to u on monday, you can call me on my phone from skype tomorrow (sunday) xxx
Wikipedia says...
ReplyDeletePiura, the oldest Spanish City in Peru and the 3rd oldest in South America, also known as "La Primera Ciudad" or "La Ciudad del Eterno Calor". There are 377,496 inhabitants (don't know who counted them and when!) Music and crafts and nice beaches nearby.
Famous for its food..."Seco de Chabelo", fried bananas and pork, sea food by the bucket, "Algarrobino cocktail", "Natilla Sweets", custard.
Ay, caramba!!
Chiclayo (738,000 people) is one of the friendliest city in Peru. Also called "Capital of Friendship" and "Pearl of the North".
Lots of history, plenty to see and I am sure plenty to eat. Peruvian food seems to be really good. Not many detail on Wiki though.
Lots of bisous.
