We crossed the border into Bolivia on Friday afternoon and had to do the ´I´m in Bolivia, you´re in Peru´ joke! I even got told off by some guy for taking pictures of the border! Lol
We got to Copacabana and booked into our hostel straight away. Then the guys and I hiked up the hill to view the sunset which we missed! I almost died hiking up there with Sean the machine! It´s so difficult in the high altitude! But I survived and then we had a look around the town and realised how dirt cheap Bolivia actually is! We had dinner for about 2 pounds and I bought a turquoise ring for about 1 pound! Rim you will love me forever!
The next morning (Friday), I woke up feeling like sh*t! We had breakfast and the very rude hostal guy only aloud us to have 1 piece of bread, 1 tea and half a banana. But I guess I can´t complain for 2 pound a night! We then made our way down to the port and got the boat the Isla del Sol (Sun Island). We got off in the north of the island and walked down to the south side. It is a very beautiful walk but I must say, boring!
It was a fun day though, apparently we were supposed to pay an entrance fee and then a fee half way through the island but we refused to because we thought it was a con! There were people selling fake tickets too so that´s why we strongly dissagread on paying anything. We litterally got takled by one lady asking us to buy a ticket! So we all spoke different languages to her and ran off!
I must go now, I´ll finish later. Sean and Michael just came back with motorbikes to ride about town!
Dont worry! They ride bikes back home!
Miss you all so much !!!!
Apparently the Isla Del Sol is the only place to see in Copacabana, apart from the cathedral that is. So, if that is boring then move on! ...Or play Jenga!
ReplyDeleteAlso I read that the only thing to eat is trout, and if you are still hungry, more trouts...And as you are not too keen on fish, get out!!
La Paz should be quite interesting. It is the highest capital city (well, administrative capital as officially Sucre is the Capital)in the world and the bus station was designed and built by a chap called Gustave Eiffel; sounds familiar doesn't it?
Plenty to do, plenty to see. No need to get Jenga out!
Lots of xxxxxxx and P.S. don't forget Sunday!!
Why what's happening Sunday?
ReplyDeleteTrout yum !!
I´m suprised no one commented on the bit about motorbikes..
ReplyDeletewas so much fun!
I am in La Paz now.. will update as soon as i get time xxxxxxxx
